Paula lives in a ramshackle 1920's home in NJ with her family and mini schnauzer.
She illustrates, writes, and runs literary and art camps. Sometimes she brings in fabulous KidLit guest stars!
Paula has a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design and has spent many years as an editorial illustrator. Her clients range from Crown Publishers and the Boston Globe to National Geographic and Scholastic.
A few years ago Paula realized she really wanted to focus on Children's Book Art and Writing. She became an active member of SCBWI, joined online writing challenges such as 12x12 and Storystorm, and found a fabulous critique group. She writes and draws every day.
If you want to read her stories or see more of her artwork, please get in touch with her.
Paula likes to think she's a blogger. She occasionally is so inspired by a picture book that she designs an art project to accompany the story or the artwork. She finds one of her Art Camp students to try out the project and she shares it with readers.
Paula is a lazy blogger so if you want her to create a project for you book you'd better hound her! http://thecardboardchronicles.blogspot.com/
Paula finds inspiration all around. Many Winter Sundays are spent in Coney Island, NY, where her husband swims in the cold waters of the Atlantic with his fellow Coney Island Polar Bears. Paula is known as a "towel holder" which means she likes to sit and draw them while she herself is warm and dry.
She also finds time to draw at her favorite farmers market, doodles her favorite recipes, and sketches at the dog park with her cranky-yet-charming miniature schnauzer.
